No-exam life insurance
Which applications qualify for instant decisions, how the quick path works, and what happens if it doesn't apply to you.
Today, many carriers offer instant underwriting: for applicants in the right age range and coverage amount, using your application data, medication records, and driving history instead of a physical exam. Some say yes or no the same day. Each quote tells you if an exam is required, may be required, or won't be needed.
What it changes
Skipping an exam doesn't skip underwriting. They verify what you told us, and policies built on false information can be disputed for two years. If your records trigger questions, they may still need an exam or tests—you decide then whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Typically you qualify if you're under around 60, applying for what the carrier caps for fast decisions, have no major health problems, and haven't used tobacco for over a year. If a recent doctor's visit included bloodwork, some carriers accept that instead of an exam.
If an exam does happen, a paramedical professional usually visits your home or workplace in the Newark area for 20 to 30 minutes—at no charge. For people in good health, the exam may actually improve your underwriting tier, so it's not automatically bad.
